(North Bergen, NJ—February 19,
2017) High Tech students from D|FAB Academy (formerly, Academy
of Architecture and Contemporary Themes, or AACT) volunteered their time to
serve customers a pancake breakfast at their local Applebee’s, raising nearly
$1,100 in the process, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High
School.
Applebee’s of North Bergen
generously opened its doors before its business hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.,
so that students could serve their customers
breakfast. In exchange, customers
donated at least $10 a plate for the D|FAB Academy to fund upcoming events and
field trips.
“It was awesome
to see the kids hosting, serving, and tidying up,” says Jamie Velazquez, lead
teacher and history instructor for D|FAB Academy. “They learned a lot about customer service
and multitasking.”
