High Tech’s Diana Concepcion Advances to 2017 New Jersey Poetry Out Loud Region 6 Competition

(Paramus, NJ—February 23, 2017) High Tech sophomore Diana Concepcion of North Bergen, who won this year’s Poetry Out Loud schoolwide competition, represented High Tech at the Poetry Out Loud Region 6 Competition, held at the Anna Marie Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.

Concepcion competed against students from all across Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties.  She recited Christina Rossetti’s “Amor Mundi” and “When You Are Old” by William Butler Yeats, the same poems that she had recited in the schoolwide competition held at High Tech.

“Although Diana didn’t advance to the final round,” says Joan Marie Bellotti, High Tech moderator for the competition, “her performance was exemplary and we are all very proud of her.”

This year marks the 12th anniversary of Poetry Out Loud.  For further information on this terrific contest, please go to www.poetryout loud.org.
