Qureshi will graduate from Carnegie Mellon with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with an additional major in Human-Computer Interaction. He has been at Carnegie Mellon since 2014, when he joined the Pre-College program. Since arriving as an undergraduate student in the fall of 2015, he has been a dedicated, engaged student in his academic and extracurricular pursuits.
As a member of the College of Fine Arts’ Dean’s List, Qureshi served on the School of Architecture’s Student Advisory Council, acted as academic coach with Carnegie Mellon Academic Development, and worked as a teaching assistant. He has participated in research in the areas of fabrication design, augmented reality, and recently, human-robot virtuosity with the DARPA Subterranean Challenge, working with a team to design and develop a user interface for complex search-and-rescue missions.
Upon graduation, Qureshi will be employed as a user experience designer in a two-year rotational program at Capital One in the Washington, D.C., area.
Along with Qureshi, Leslie Odom, Jr. will be the Keynote Speaker and Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts. Best known for his breakout role as Aaron Burr in the smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton, Odom, Jr. received a Drama Desk Award nomination in 2015 and won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also won a Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the Hamilton original cast recording.
