High Tech Cited in The Washington Post’s Annual Rankings of How Successfully Schools Challenge Their Students

(Washington, DC—May 7, 2017) America’s Most Challenging High Schools, as ranked by The Washington Post, selects high schools through an index formula, and this year, High Tech has made its 2017 list, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.

High Tech ranks #2 out of six Hudson County schools on the list.  Overall, High Tech received a ratio of 1.962 and ranked 1,386 on the entire list.

America’s Most Challenging High Schools incorporates a simple ratio into its rankings: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year. A ratio of 1.000 means the school had as many tests as graduates.
